Senior Matters, a CFCM Fund, provides the local community the opportunity to support the unmet needs of older adults. This fund sustains the work of Boone County Council on Aging, Columbia’s Meals on Wheels, and the Adult Day Connection of the University of Missouri.
Boone County Council on Aging provides a continuum of services that improve the lives of people 55 and older. These services include Information and Referral, Volunteer Services, and Case Management Services for low-income seniors who need in-depth help and lack family support.
Meals on Wheels supplies fresh, hot, nutritionally balanced meals to seniors and people with disabilities, most of whom are home bound. The meals are delivered by volunteers between 11 AM and Noon Monday through Friday, with options for boxed evening meals and frozen meals for the weekend.
The MU Adult Day Connection (ADC) is a state-licensed adult day health care program that provides a supportive environment for adults who have experienced physical and/or cognitive changes. Offering this respite service can delay entry into a long-term care placement and allow family members and caregivers to work, complete needed tasks or rest.
These local nonprofit agencies have a unified goal of keeping seniors in their homes with independence and dignity for as long as safely possible. You may donate to the Seniors Matter Fund by writing a check made payable to the Community Foundation of Central Missouri (put the words “Seniors Matter Fund” on the memo line) and mailing it to the Community Foundation of Central Missouri, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, MO 65205-6015. Thank you.
